Safety Manager (Safety Management of Aircraft)

I am looking to hire a Safety Manager for our Defense sector client

ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES

The post holder is responsible for the effective, efficient and proper safety management of activities in support of the Watchkeeper and other all UAST (unmanned Air systems team) programmes where directed, in meeting the programme targets as set out in the UAS Team Business Plan.

- The post holder will act as the focal point for safety management queries within the UAS Team, carry out the duties and support the UAST Safety & Airworthiness Lead SAW.
- The job requires management of two staff. Maintaining UAS Team Airworthiness and Safety Policy documents. Management of Safety in individual through life and UOR programmes.
- Assist in the writing and development of programme strategies and plans.
- Provide advice to the writing of Release To Service documents.
- Represent the UAS Team on Safety issues at forums and meetings.
- Facilitate communication between Contractors, the UAS Team, ISEAs, ITEs and the MAA.
- Attend hazard log reviews as project safety lead, ensuring tolerability & ALARP decisions and other mendments are captured for acceptance at Project Safety Panels.
- Act as secretary and write up or facilitate the writing of minutes on safety meetings. Authority (eg line management, project, etc):
- Recommend to DES UAS-TAA safety policy and programme decisions within the TAA bounds of letter of delegation.
- Make safety programme decisions within the UAS Hd bounds of letter of delegation and make recommendations to DES UAS-SAW.
- Release correspondence, approve Contractor documentation and make programme decisions on behalf of DES UAS-SAW, DES UAS-TAA and DES UAS-Hd.
- Liaise with Client and external organisations in support of the role.
- Accountability: Accountable to the UAST SAW for Safety.
