Safety Information Manager (Combat Air/Aviation)

Background
Our Central Government Client is currently recruiting for a Safety Information Manager for an 11 month contract based in Bristol.

Main Duties/Responsibilities
You will be required to assist the Lightning II Safety Manager in managing the Safety and Airworthiness elements of the Lightning II Project.
The key responsibilities within this role will be. To review and update the Military Flight Test Permit (MFTP) for Lightning II.
To review and update the Lightning II Hazard Log.
To update and support the Air Safety Management System (ASMS) for Lightning II.
To give Airworthiness and Safety advice and guidance to stakeholders within the Lightning II project.. To review Safety and Airworthiness information delivered from the Designers and Project Office, and to brief the Project Team on any issues.
To support Safety and Airworthiness meetings as either the co-chair, or secretary of meetings within the Safety and Airworthiness structure.
To understand legislation, regulation and policy Safety and Airworthiness areas related to Land based and Maritime based Air Operations, and be a Subject Matter Expert for these areas for Lightning PT.. Developing and reviewing the Airworthiness Strategy and Safety Management Plan for Lightning II, and being a focal point within Lightning PT for this information.
To ensure that robust processes and procedures are in place within the Lightning II Safety Management System. Assisting the Safety Manager with Internal Auditing of the execution and effectiveness of the Safety Management System on behalf of Lighting TAA and create Corrective Action Plans to recover any deficiencies.
Liaising with external stakeholders on behalf of Lightning PT Safety Manager, and being a focal point for advising on Safety and Airworthiness issues relating to Lightning II.
Assisting the Lightning PT Safety Manager in carrying out Competency Assessments, covering Suitably Qualified and Experienced Personnel (SQEP), Airworthiness Delegations, Training, etc.
Carrying out further roles, where agreed in relation to Safety and Airworthiness when directed by Lightning PT Safety Manager.

Skills/Experience Required
There is a requirement that you have a working knowledge of Aircraft Engineering, Airworthiness and Safety related experience within both the UK and US regulatory framework and associated policy. This is an engineering based post as well, and you would preferably be professionally registered with an engineering body (IET, IMechE, RAeS, etc), you should have working knowledge of fast jet military operations, both land based and maritime, as well qualifications within an aero engineering discipline, and preferably Safety and Airworthiness qualifications as well.

Formal Qualifications Required
It is highly desirable that you hold current SC clearance however if offered the post you must be eligible to go through this level of clearance.
