Safety Engineer

Safety Engineer/Facilities Safety Engineer required for a world leading Aerospace and Defence Company based out of Farnborough for a 6 month initial contract.

Candidate would be required to conduct Safety inspections on Air, Maritime and Weapons facilities. this role would be looking to pay between GBP 250 and GBP 350 per day Dependent upon epxerience. Higher level Safety Consultant position will also be available

Roles and responsibilities

* Conducting Phase 1 and 2 tasks for a number of Air, Maritime and Weapons facilities

* Involvement with Hazard Identification sessions, with facilities Support Engineer and facilities staff

* Investigating proposed mitigating controls

* Populating a Preliminary/Hazard Log, assess safety risks based on initial findings, and propose follow-on safety requirements for Phase 2

* Conducting In-depth analysis of catastrophic and critical safety risks identified in Phase 1

* Production of Safety Case Reports to support Phase 2.

Skills and competencies required

* Strong experience in safety assessment for complex systems, services and/or facilities

* Knowledge in applicable UK/EC Hand S legislation

* Strong knowledge of safety assessment techniques

* HazID facilitation, Hazard Analysis, Safety Case production and Risk Assessment skills

* Strong interpersonal and communication skills

* Experience in Facilities/Air Facilities or very strong Safety Background

Desirable skills and competencies

* Experience in safety assessment for air, maritime and/or weapons trials and training facilities

* Qualification in safety assessment methods

* Experience within the Defence and Aerospace Sector

* Understanding of Human Factors and organisational cultural factors

* Understanding of in-depth SSA techniques such as FMEA, FTA, ETA

* Safety related Degree or academic qualification

* Experience with POEMS system

Due to the sensitive nature of the company all candidates must have SC level Clearance or be able to obtain SC Level Clearance.
