Safety Consultant - Contract Job

SAFETY CONSULTANT needed for a CONTRACT opportunity with Yoh's client located in FARMINGTON, NM.

THE BIG PICTURE - TOP SKILLS YOU SHOULD POSSESS:

- Plant experience
- Knowledge of current safety/health regulations
- Experience working with government entities

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING:

- Audit the activities of safety committees and provide technical assistance to them.
- Counsel management, employees and union representatives to ensure consistent interpretations and revisions of the accident prevention manual.
- Interpret new safety/health regulations, design appropriate policies and procedures and advise management on preferred course of action.
- Maintain an effective safety/health resource library to provide assistance to all departments.
- Plan, develop, implement and audit comprehensive safety programs to assist management in achieving corporate safety goals.
- Provide CPR, First Aid and other designated training to identified employees.
- Represent the company with Federal and State OSHA Agencies.
- Survey facilities and operations for safety, environmental, fire and industrial hygiene risks and provide assistance with development of action plans to correct problems.

WHAT YOU NEED TO BRING TO THE TABLE:

- Bachelor's degree in safety or related discipline and five (5) years of professional safety related field experience, OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- A working knowledge of Federal, State and local Safety/Health Regulations.
- Strong oral communication skills as well as good human relations skills.
