Safety Advisor

Background
Our Central Government Client is currently recruiting for a Safety Advisor for a 5 month contract based in Bristol. The role sits within the Artillery Systems Team.

Main Duties/Responsibilities
Specifically. Safety and Environmental Policy. You will be responsible for the maintenance and compliance of current Policy, creating the conditions for compliance of future policy in accordance with proposed changes in Regulations and Legislation.. Safety and Environmental Management System (SEMS). You will be responsible for the production and amendments to the SEMS so as to ensure compliance with the client's Policy and Best Practice.. Currency and Competency training. Ensure that members of staff are placed on training courses so as to gain formal qualifications within the safety and environmental domain so as to be deemed competent in accordance with the client's Policy.. Land System Safety Office (LSSO). Liaise directly with the LSSO on Safety and Environmental issues that may be of concern to Artillery Systems Team and user community.. Safety and Environmental Management Committee (SEMC). You are responsible for ensuring that the SEMC occurs bi-annually and that during the meeting you perform the duties of Secretary.. Project Safety and Environmental Management Meetings. Attend project S&E management meetings to ensure compliance with current policy and to enable best practice across the team.. Carry out additional tasks as directed by Supportability Programme Manager.

Formal Qualifications Required
- System Safety Practitioner (or equivalent experience/qualification)

Skills and Experience Required
It is highly desirable the you have public sector/central government experience
