Ruby Architect

Do you have a penchant for emergent design rather than big-up-front architectures?  This well-funded digital start-up is searching for a progressive SOFTWARE ARCHITECT with broad technology experience in RUBY and who will help design and deliver a social marketplace solution that includes a both a rich web experience, as well as mobile capability.  You will be part of an innovative, high-performance engineering team that is committed to delivering an application using leading edge technologies in the cloud and implementing best-in-software development craftsmanship.  This engineer must be able to code up a storm, but the real key here is high level architecture skills.  This individual needs to be able to take ownership of the platform and quickly get a handle of how everything works - should the senior leadership be inaccessible, the Senior Rails Architect will be the one to step in and provide technical leadership. 

Cross Training in iOS development is an option as well.

This is a 24 month contract with the possibility of conversion to perm if desired after 6 months. 

RESPONSIBILITIES (INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO):

- Design and Implement cutting-edge technologies which will drive this high-demand business solution
- Utilize software craftsmanship techniques to ensure rapid time-to-market, high-productivity development
- Co-create innovative technological features that will revolutionize this industry
- Support critical market success requirements of quality, performance, maintainability, and scalability.
- Help Product and UX teams deliver user experience and capabilities that exceed customers' expectations
- Cross Training in iOS development
- Produce high quality, elegant code on short deadlines
- Conform to local standards

QUALIFICATIONS:

- 1+ years' experience Architecting software solutions using Ruby
- 3+ years' experience Architecting web based software solutions
- Excellent Software Development skills (5+ years)
- Agile Methodology and TDD experience
- Creative, resourceful and innovative problem solver
- Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to facilitate communication within engineering team.
- One or more years developing in RUBY ON RAILS
- Experience using NoSQL databases like MONGODB (PREFERRED), Cassandra, Redis, etc. a plus
- Mobile (Android/iOS) experience is a big plus.
- Comfortable with agile development techniques such as BDD, Pair Programming, Refactoring, Continuous Integration, Iterative Development, etc.
