Risk SME (2nd line of Defence)

Project Practice are excited to announce an opportunity for a Risk - Subject Matter Expert to join a start up bank based in London. The client, focused on Retail/Private/Business Banking is looking for an all-rounder, a Subject Matter Expert in assurance; someone who really knows a lot of aspects of risk well and has experience in setting things up from scratch.

The ideal candidate will be defining the road map for how the start up bank can successfully acquire their banking licence.

In addition it is essential that the candidate has background in assurance, compliance and audit.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Their primary activity will be setting up the 2nd line of defence
- Sets out the risk and compliance policies that the front-line staff then execute
- Outlines the risk appetite of the bank, devises policies that are compliant with FCA regulations and in line with the bank's risk appetite
- Provides oversight of front line activities
- Devising a risk framework for the company
- Lay the groundwork for long term operations

REQUIREMENTS

- Should have the ability to set things up from scratch
- Link with 1st and 3rd lines of defence
- Identify key controls that are necessary for a functioning risk framework
- Experience in training people and leaving risk functions set up and ready to go
- Experience with divestments (desirable)
- Knowledge of enterprise risk
