JOB PURPOSE:

Reporting to the UK Risk Manager, this role is responsible for partnering with Board Directors and their direct reports (within New Business and Finance) to drive a culture of risk management consistently throughout the business, acting as a critical friend', challenging and driving the risk agenda. Delivering high impact risk reporting, this role will support the business to identify and assess risks and will hold risk owners to account for delivering agreed actions to manage risks within the agreed appetite. 

KEY ACTIVITIES

Stakeholder Management: Partnering with Regional Unit (RU) UK Board Directors, their direct reports and Finance Business Partners to shape the risk management agenda across the business and ensure that risk owners understand the risk appetite of the Board
Risk Management: Develop risk management culture and evolve the maturity of risk management debates at all levels of the business
Risk Reporting: Deliver high impact reporting to Group Management, the RU UK Board and Senior Leadership Teams to ensure stakeholders remain fully engaged in the management of key risks
Best Practice: Develop conceptual thinking, drive change and embed risk management best practice 

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:

Influence leadership teams through the regular presentation of high quality risk information and hold them to account for risk mitigation whilst proactively managing the consequences of non-delivery
Work closely with finance business partners and other risk experts within the finance function to ensure a consistent message with regards to risk reporting is delivered to stakeholders and a collaborative approach is taken to risk management
Raise the profile of risk management across each business area through communications and awareness initiatives
Providing expert risk management input to projects Risk Management
Challenge and support business areas to identify existing and emerging risks, assess the potential impact and likelihood of those risks and ensure commercially appropriate mitigation plans are created and delivered with a specific focus on risks to Treating our Customers Fairly
Escalate risks that could have an impact on other business areas
Support business areas to articulate their risk appetite Risk Reporting
Delivering high quality and consistent RU UK, Country Council risk reporting
Continuous improvement of risk reporting to ensure stakeholder needs are met
Maintenance of high quality risk registers in the agreed format Best Practice
Implement best practice within principles
Driving continuous improvement in the risk management process and the on-going development of the RU UK Risk Management Framework, embedding it in the business 

ESSENTIAL:

The experience to identify risks that impact an area's ability to achieve its stated objectives
The commercial awareness to assess the potential impact and likelihood of risks realistically
The impact to influence and challenge senior stakeholders and drive appropriate action
The tenacity to drive change through others ensuring risks are adequately managed
Excellent written and oral communication skills and comfortable presenting to senior stakeholders
Self-motivation with the ability to deliver high quality outputs to agreed deadlines 

DESIRABLE:

Experience of managing risks and risk reporting within the utilities (or similar) industry
A recognised risk management qualification
Knowledge of the regulatory environment processes
