Risk Manager

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

- Provides on-going, up to date, tailored and commercial solutions to internal clients on a variety of risk management and compliance queries, including, but not limited to, regulatory, professional standards, policy and legislation.
- Responsible for gathering detail on, and resolving or escalating appropriately, complex issues.
- Responsible for finding solutions, and making recommendations based on analysis of issues and on the wider needs of the business.
- Responsible for day to day management and delivery of project work within the risk team, including raising awareness of the relevant projects within the wider business.
- Responsible for raising awareness of risk management team generally within the business and forging new, and continuing to develop existing relationships by seeking constructive feedback.
- Responsible for co-ordination and administration of requests to the Business Acceptance Committee.
- Member of Risk Management Committee, and expected to provide input on pertinent topics for discussion.
- Assists Head of Risk with policy drafting and review.
- Assists Head of Risk and where relevant, takes the lead in training initiatives to the business.
- Assists Head of Risk in drafting and undertaking PSC training programme for new and nearly qualified trainees.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

- Excellent understanding of the demands, commercial realities, and risks faced in a commercial law firm.
- Strong working knowledge of the SRA Code of Conduct 2011 and Outcomes Focused Regulation.
- Technical appreciation of the complexities of the Money Laundering Regulations and other statutes.
- Strong working knowledge of the Bribery and Corruption legislation.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

- A university degree or relevant formal compliance qualification.
- Recent experience working in a managerial role in an international law firm.
- Experience of managing, developing and leading a team.
