RF DESIGN LEAD

This role is for an Engineer to take responsibility for predominately RF engineering aspects of a major project to be delivered in Libya. The Engineer must be able to capture customer requirements, design and model radio coverage solutions, model network capacity, perform frequency analysis and associated tasks. He/she must present solutions to design review teams, perform root cause analysis, and seek out new tools and methods to analyse and solve problems and create innovative designs that meet the requirements of the project. The individual must be proficient in using systems engineering tools and sound processes to successfully perform the technical analyses typically encountered when designing and supporting radio communications systems and transmission networks.

SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITIES/EXPECTATIONS:

The Engineer is expected to multitask among various project assignments, adhere to project schedules and perform within the established project budget. He/she is expected to take personal responsibility for achieving his assigned tasks within the allotted time and budget constraints. This role also requires strong, diplomatic communication skills to effectively interface with customers at all levels, as well as internal key work partners such as Account Managers, Programme Managers, Contracts Personnel, Product group representatives and other members of the Engineering team. Candidate must be able to stand his ground in decisions affecting the RF design. A background in transmission standards including but not limited to PDH, SDH, Ethernet, MPLS, Fibre, E1, leased lines etc. and a knowledge of IP Networking would be a distinct advantage.

*ROLE DOES NOT NEED TO BE BASED IN LIBYA HOWEVER FREQUENT TRAVEL TO LIBYA WILL BE EXPECTED*

SPECIFIC KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS:

BSC is highly preferred Wireless Communications, Networking, and/or VoIP experience/background ASTRO or TETRA experience would be an advantage. Good interpersonal and team-work skills required. Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills required. Strong knowledge of RF propagation and/or wireless communications systems. Strong background in RF planning and optimization and capacity design Strong background in site design and antenna configurations. Able to conduct field measurements and apply them to all areas of RF design. Strong background in RF filters, including combiners, duplexers, circulators, phasing harnesses etc. Strong Background in Indoor coverage solutions. Must also have a working knowledge of computer hardware, software, LANs, WANs, WLANs. Strong background in TCP/IP protocol suite. Strong background in transport mechanisms (eg E1s, Ethernet, CSU/DSU, IP Routers, Fibre Optic etc.)
