Role Purpose:

Support to a major project in the preparation of technical requirement specifications for RF data link subsystems, including antennas

Accountabilities
Microwave data link sub-system design, including:
Development of sub-system requirement documents
Modelling of data link operation
Detailed data link sub system design
Communications waveform design
Planning and attendance of data link trials.
Calculating and applying data link power budgets

Skills and Knowledge
Design of data link sub-systems
Analysing data link performance in the presence of clutter (ground and weather) and sophisticated counter-measures.
Generation of test strategies

Desirable:
Knowledge of current military communications systems
Knowledge of spectrum management/co-siting interference calculations etc.
Experience of antenna design/specification/testing etc.
Knowledge of current error correction, compression and encoding methodologies.
