Research Lab Specialist-LIC HLA Pathology

The Research Lab Specialist in the Pathology Department in the HLA laboratory assists the Technical Director, HLA, with the collection and analysis of data for specified research projects. The HLA laboratory performs clinical testing, including molecular-based HLA typing, and HLA antibody identification and supports the division of Bone Marrow Transplant and Cellular Therapy. Will assist in evaluating new platforms, such as Next-Generation Sequencing for HLA applications. Performs laboratory experiments and assigned clinical testing with minimal supervision, learning and developing new procedures. Manages specific, but limited, laboratory functions and trains laboratory personnel. Demonstrates effort to increase knowledge of a specific area of research and participates in the presentation and/or publication of research results. Properly conducts specific projects and maintains efficient laboratory operations. Performs other duties as assigned or directed in order to meet the goals and objectives of the department and the institution. (MJP)
