RESEARCH ASSOCIATE needed for a CONTRACT opportunity with Yoh's client located in SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO CA.

THE BIG PICTURE - TOP SKILLS YOU SHOULD POSSESS:

- In-vivo/ex vivo
- Proficient in molecular and cell biology techniques
- Experience in elucidating mechanisms of anti-cancer drug resistance
- BA/BS/MS in biomedical sciences

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING:

- The successful candidate will lead efforts in the following areas of focus:
- Evaluating the pharmacodynamics and mechanism of action of small molecule and biotherapeutic oncology pipeline targeting hematological malignancies using in vitro (cell-culture derived) and/or ex vivo (patient derived) tumor models and biochemical, molecular and cellular techniques.
- Elucidating innate and acquired resistance to therapeutics in cell culture and patient derived tumor lines.
- Defining drug combinations of standard of care therapeutics with new molecular entities based on a strong scientific and mechanistic rationale.
- Elucidating mechanism of action of drug combinations that result in enhanced sensitivity or rescue of drug resistance.
- Identifying, validating and profiling molecular biomarkers in vitro and/or ex vivo that are predictive of therapeutic outcome as single agent or in combination with other agents in drug sensitive and resistant models.

WHAT YOU NEED TO BRING TO THE TABLE:

- Highly proficient in a broad range of biochemical techniques including: Enzyme Linked Immuno-Assays (ELISA based and Meso-Scale Discovery), Western blotting and immunoprecipitation.
- Experience in protein purification is ideal but not required
- Highly proficient in a broad range of molecular and cell biology techniques including: gene silencing or mutagensis (siRNA, shRNA, CRISPR/Cas9), retroviral and lentiviral transduction, establishment and maintenance of stable cell lines, gene expression analysis at the RNA and protein levels (Fluidigm/qPCR based, Reverse Phase Protein Array); FACS (including phosho-flow); analysis of cell differentiation, proliferation, survival, death and adhesion using standard assay formats.
- Demonstrated experience in immunofluorescence, confocal and phase-contrast microscopy is desired Tissue cell culture experience using established/banked tumor cell lines (ie from ATCC) is required.
- Laboratory research experience in elucidating mechanisms of anti-cancer drug resistance is ideal.
- Demonstrated proficiency in establishing and maintaining patient-derived hematological tumor cell lines ex vivo and analysis of pharmacodynamic markers is ideal.
- Excellent organizational, problem solving, verbal/written communication skills is essential.
- A strong desire to proactively learn new techniques and skills in accordance with evolving research program needs is essential.
- Experience in translating results published in the literature to independently design, execute, troubleshoot and interpret complex sets of experiments or procedures is desired.
- Ability and desire to work independently, proactively and collaboratively in a dynamic, innovative, and interdependent research environment is essential.
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects in parallel is ideal.
- Proficient in using Microsoft Office (Word, Powerpoint and Excel) and graphics software (ie Kaleidagraph, Prisms and/or Adobe Illustrator) is required.

BONUS POINTS! OTHERWISE KNOWN AS PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

- BA/BS in biomedical sciences with greater than three (3) years of experience in an academic, biotechnology or pharmaceutical industry laboratory with a specialization in hematological malignancies and relevant disease model systems or a Masters degree with thesis research experience in related field.
