RESEARCH ASSOCIATE I needed for a CONTRACT opportunity with Yoh's client located in San Carlos, CA

The Big Picture:
- This is an opportunity to work in an early product development group to formulate and characterize small and biological molecules intended for respiratory delivery.
- The position involves hands-on research and development work in a process development laboratory setting.
- On a rich variety of projects, the candidate will work closely with colleagues to develop and evaluate formulations from feasibility through clinical phases of development.

What You'll Be Doing:
- Applies scientific principles and a wide range of bench or instrumental procedures to solve pharmaceutical formulation problems of moderate complexity.
- Applies engineering concepts to develop pharmaceutical manufacturing processes in a variety of laboratory-scale equipment, as well as scale-up to pilot or clinical scales.
- Functions as a team resource to perform a variety of laboratory-based tasks with minimal guidance.
- Executes experiments following appropriate laboratory/technical procedures.
- Proposes study designs and draft study protocols, which may involve design of experiments (DOE) and use several analytical techniques.
- Assists with the creation, design, and development of process equipment and/or characterization technologies for project advancement.
- Makes detailed observations and analyzes data to interpret results, to identify trends and to perform basic statistics involving multi-factor studies.
- Maintains compliant, well-organized laboratory records, worksheets and notebooks.
- Organizes and maintains database(s) to track samples, analytical data, and stability time points.
- Prepares and presents scientific results to internal and external audiences.
- Authors memoranda and technical reports.
- Manages disposition of materials to meet needs of local and global customers.
- Maintains compliance to company Health, Safety, and Environmental policies, procedures and practices, including laboratory ownership.

What You Need to Bring to the Table:
- A minimum of a Bachelor's degree in a scientific discipline, preferably chemical engineering, biological engineering, or chemistry is required; Equivalent experience may be accepted.
- A minimum of one year work experience in a research and/or development environment is preferred.
- Must have excellent analytical skills, with significant hands-on laboratory experience.
- Must have demonstrated trouble-shooting and problem solving abilities.
- Must have good oral and written communication skills.
- Must be willing to work as part of a team, provide technical assistance to others across a wide range of activities, and demonstrate good interpersonal skills.
- Must demonstrate sound judgment and a good work ethic.
- Must have working knowledge of MS Office.
- Experience working in an FDA-regulated environment is highly desired.
- The candidate selected will need to undergo a yearly vision, hearing, and respirator fit test

Bonus Points! Otherwise Known As Preferred Qualifications:
- Additional computer software skills such as MATLAB and JMP in data analysis and modelling are preferred.
