Research and Development Technician Job

RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT TECHNICIAN needed for a CONTRACT opportunity with Yoh's client located in TIBURON, CA.

TOP SKILLS YOU SHOULD POSSESS:

- Understanding of microbiology and aseptic technique

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING:

- Work with the team to perform and develop functional assays and cultivation strategies for soil and other bacteria
- Organize, grow and maintain bacterial strains
- Perform experimental set-ups and assist with data acquisition in laboratory and field settings
- Conduct basic strain verification through genomic DNA extraction, PCR and sequencing
- Keep an organized and detailed laboratory notebook and update the company's database as needed
- Formulate, optimize and make cultivation media
- Prepare various environmental samples for cultivation
- Communicate effectively and regularly with peers and supervisors regarding the status of projects and work activities
- Prepare spreadsheets, presentations and technical reports

WHAT YOU NEED TO BRING TO THE TABLE:

- Bachelors of Science in biology or related discipline, with a concentration in microbiology preferred
- A basic understanding of microbiology and aseptic technique
- Must have the ability to work and communicate well within and across teams
- Must be self-motivated and have the ability to work efficiently when responsible for individual tasks and meeting deadlines
- An understanding of aerobic and anaerobic culturing techniques, a plus
- Flexibility and desire to work successfully in a fast-paced and dynamic environment is required.
