Functional Specifications Analyst/Writer

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Describes in detailed written, tabular and graphical form, for the software developers, all changes and/or additions to application functionality that are required for the software to work and satisfy the business requirements. The functional specifications will be referred to throughout the development of the application to know inputs, validations & exceptions, outputs and error processing. The candidate will know how to document input specifications for files or screens, describe changes to the processing of the system in calculations, fields and other activities, define changes to output such as new transactions, interfaces and/or reports while documenting controls, reconciliations and security features needing to be enhanced or built. Works with the business analysts to ensure business requirements are complete, then prepares the functional specifications for the software developers. Will also be able to answer questions from developers and do additional research to obtain complete requirements.

This position will also work with the Lead QA Analyst to ensure adequate test coverage and scenarios. Also will work with trainers and system documenters to ensure job aides and training materials accurately reflect system look, feel and functions. Candidate Description: Logical thinker able to break complex functions down into understandable requirements. Able to work well with, and understand the needs of, software developers. This person should have strong financial experience (preferably Trust), MS Office skills (Word, Excel, Visio), and be self-motivated and strong multi-tasking skills.
