Release Technician

Our client in Warren, NJ is looking for a seasoned Release Technician to work in the Release Management department. This is a temp to hire opportunity, expecting to convert to perm by the end of 2014.

Responsibilities include:
- Perform manual deployment of both Mainframe and non-Mainframe code.
- Automate deployment through implementation of technology specific templates.
- Contribute to efforts to build a strong automation capability in Release Management.
- Initial efforts will focus on deployment and is expected to grow to automation of application build processes.

Key Responsibilities
Deploy application Mainframe and non-Mainframe code to target environments in adherence with SLA and compliance rules. This includes support for emergency and after hour deployments.

Execute assigned automation efforts including
- Code and test scripts based on standard templates by technology
- Take the lead in coordination of work with application leads
- Drive the project to ensure delivery
- Manage routine risks and issues, while escalating high priority problems in a timely manner

Update library of standard scripts as applicable.
Track required metrics.
Recommend process improvement opportunities and contribute to related initiatives.
Maintain Model Branch environment.
Participate in reviews of internal controls.
Respond to inquiries regarding use of Change Management System

Required:

- 5+ years of application development experience including use of automation tools
- Cobol, JCL, DB2
- Clists

Plusses:

- Experience implementing automation capabilities (eg. BuildForge) preferred but not required.
