Release Manager Workday
Main Duties:
- He or she will evaluate Workday updates and propose solutions to ensure functionality and applicability to the needs of the organization/business unit. New functionalities out of Workday during the project timeline will be kept to a minimum.
- Responsible for managing technical project work and implementation of new releases of Workday product
- Monitors Workday community for new release functionality, coordinates with other areas within myconnect to make required configuration/content/reporting/integration changes.
- Identifies functional SMEs required to support testing, setting up of testing schedule and manage project timing.
- Determines deployment plan and schedule, including communication or training materials required for support.
- Coordinates with all key integration points to plan and implement changes required.
- Fully documents and maintains artifacts detailing myconnect implementation.
- Ability to manage global resources to identify regional differences in and impacts to functionality
- Reviews release notes of each Workday update with business user communities to determine what features and functionalities should be turned on or disabled
- Develops and implements test plans for changes and enhancements for the organization/business unit
- Ensures coordination of all release management activities between the clent and Workday teams
- Ensures test scripts are developed for repeatable use in testing updates and functionality implementations and utilized and maintained with each update/implementation of functionality
- Ensures test plans are developed, maintained, and executed in appropriate tenant for new release or for functionality implementation
- Evaluates current business processes and practices to propose custom solutions and reporting
- Supports the implementation process for new systems and updates of existing systems with current users
- Builds and maintains the knowledge base of all release management plans, testing scenarios, scripts, results, business acceptance documents and lessons learned
Major challenges
- Ability to understand impacts of changes on overall HRIS implementation; designs solutions within Workday and capable of directing other constituents on approaches to utilization of HR data and on-going changes to same
Required experience
- At least 1 year = 2 release cycles
- One to two years of Workday experience, preferably in a Release Manager role
- Five years overall HRIS experience with significant focus on integration of HRIS information with internal and external systems and vendor
- Results-oriented - demonstrates strong leadership, project management skills and resourcefulness, including the ability to persuade, encourage and motivate others, while focused on successful outcomes
- Must be an enthusiastic leader who is self-motivated, has high energy, possesses a team-building attitude and able to work with little guidance
- Understands Software Development Life Cycle and industry standard application release management processes
- Has excellent verbal and written communication skills - must be able to translate technical concepts into non-technical terms for both senior level management and all staff
- Possesses strong organizational skills with the ability to adapt to short deadlines in a fast-paced, time sensitive environment
- Has extensive experience with functional and performance testing tools, processes and methodologies
- Demonstrates the ability to evaluate, critique, build & repair automation frameworks
- Has experience managing large-scale SaaS applications with the capacity to coordinate tasks among numerous business functions, take initiative and drive decision making.
