Title: Release Manager

Location: San Antonio, TX

Position Type: Perm/Full-time

This is an exciting opportunity for the right individual to join an energetic and seasoned team, with an established and expanding national firm. The Release Manager role will be responsible for overseeing the coordination and facilitation of the software and systems release process to guarantee smooth and timely delivery of software products or updates into the non-production environments and their promotion and deployment to the production environments.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

- Develop, implement and manage a standard/repeatable enterprise release processes for the progression of code in the development, test, beta and production environments
- Execute an organizational release strategy including the management of human and technical resources, schedules, quality controls, reporting, build/deployment automation and all levels of communication
- Work with IT management to improve the software engineering processes and practices associated with continuously building, deploying, and updating software and environments
- Lead and coordinate the Go-Live activities including the development and execution of the deployment plans and checklists
- Analyze, implement and manage scripts, tools, hardware and systems that support continuous and on-demand build/release schedules for systems and applications
- Manage risks and resolve issues that affect release scope, schedule and quality
- Report release metrics, status, successes and failures for all systems
- Determine the readiness of each release based on release criteria: production environment readiness, risk analysis, acceptance criteria, go/no go criteria, rollout and backout plans, service stability criteria, quality of service metrics, and training and support plans
- Build and manage relationships with all stakeholders in and out of IT
- Must have a strong knowledge of the software development life cycle (SDLC) phases & methodologies
- Must have a strong talent mindset: maintaining, recruiting, and selecting, training, coaching and motivating release staff
- Must have a working knowledge of software deployment methodologies and strategies
- Must have strong organizational, interpersonal, and verbal and written communication skills
- Must have the ability to effectively write and present business correspondence, reports, and technical manuals

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

- Must have a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related technical discipline or equivalent Information Technology experience
- Must have a minimum of seven (7) years' experience in software development, Release Engineering, Configuration Management or related field with significant experience in an automated build/test/deployment environment
- Must have experience leading large multi-platform software build/deployment efforts
- Must have recent, direct experience in the creation and execution of a build/release strategy, tool implementation and maintenance plans
- Must have experience with large-scale Change Management processes covering risk management and problem management
