REGULATORY SERVICES OFFICER

£28.09 PER HOUR LTD

37 HOURS PER WEEK WITH SOME OUT OF HOURS WORK REQUIRED

TEMPORARY CONTRACT FOR UP TO 6 MONTHS

Would you like to be part of a team working in a traditional seaside town with seven miles of seafront, a pleasure pier and a variety of shops in the town centre. We are looking for an enthusiastic, committed and innovative professional to work within our Regulatory Services team. You will be suitably qualified and experienced to undertake a range of food and health and safety activities including using prohibition powers where necessary. You will also be willing to assist your colleagues in other areas where necessary.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

- To undertake a range of complex Regulatory Services duties under the direction of the Team Leader
- To take a lead responsibility for undertaking statutory functions involving projects/inspection programmes/major or complex investigations
- To carry out follow up visits and enquiries within relevant premises as required
- To undertake a range of complex 'out of hours' inspection and enforcement duties including evenings (running into the early hours of the morning) and weekends in accordance with contracted hours/as required
- To carry out formal actions in relation to offences, breaches of Conditions and other specific requirements, to include issuing enforcement notices, Fixed Penalty Notices, issuing verbal and written warnings, and institution of legal proceedings
- To respond to and investigate complex Regulatory Services complaints and enquiries from the general public and businesses
- To support in the development of a policy framework and enforcement protocols for key activities within Regulatory Services under the direction of the Team Leader and to deliver services within the framework
- To act as a source of advice and guidance in relation to Regulatory Services and related matters, including advice and guidance to the public, businesses and other members of staff
- To attend formal hearings of the Council as well as prosecution and appeal hearings before the Courts as required.
- To operate and record work carried out on departmental systems as required

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE

- Professional Qualification in a relevant area of Regulatory Services
- Knowledge of relevant regulatory services legislation, relevant investigation procedures and knowledge of national, regional and local policies regarding regulatory services issues
- Knowledge and experience of developing and delivery services within a policy framework
- Experience of complex criminal investigations
- Lead officer experience for projects
- Experience of applying national/regional/local policies to regulatory services work
- Experience of using a relevant database for recording and managing work
- Awareness of relevant health & safety requirements
