Red Hat Linux Administrator/Engineer

This is a 6 month contract position.

Responsibilities:

- Participate in and support capacity planning and development of long term strategic goals for enterprise Servers/storage
- System backup and recovery
- Creation of disaster recovery plans
- On-call pager rotation, weekend and off-hours support
- Resolution of customer reported issues and trouble tickets
- Monitoring of hardware and software status and performance
- Performance tuning of Servers and environment
- Coordination with 1st-level and 3rd-level suport to resolve problems
- Coordination with customers an 3rd party vendors to resolve problems
- Performance monitoring and tuning - CPU, Memory and Disk
- Sizing and configuration of hardware
- Become a SME in one or more areas of wireless telecommunications

Requirements:

- RHCE Certified - RHEL 4+
- Extensive experience in RHEL environments
- Recent experience in large RHEL environments
- Knowledge of hardware platforms including Dell, IBM and HP, both rack able and modular
- Ability to answer probing questions regarding SMTP, HTTP, SSL, DNS and NFS protocols
- Extensive experience with all functions of Red Hat Linux administration
