Rational RSA + RTC Expert

Role of a Mentor:

I am looking for a team of Rational Software Architect (RSA) and Rational Team Concert (RTC) mentors to work with the central Rational programme team, to drive the adoption and embedding of the RSA and RTC tools to development teams in Group IT.

Mentor main duties and responsibilities:

Working as key members of the central Rational programme, the Rational Software Architect (RSA) and Rational Team Concert (RTC) Mentors will be expected to directly support Group IT individuals, projects and programmes as each adopts the Rational tools and new processes. More specifically, Mentors will:

Support the rollout of RSA and RTC across Group IT development teams;

Promote and guide the adoption of the Rational tools across Group IT;

Provide one-to-one coaching and mentoring and/or group coaching and mentoring on the tools and their usage;

Act as SMEs (subject matter experts) and a support mechanism, providing technical expertise and coaching to individuals, projects and programmes as required;

Act as senior members of the central Rational programme, providing technical knowledge and acting as Trusted Advisors to the central programme team; and

Present and act as evangelists of Rational tools and Group IT transformed processes.

Experience required:

Deep technical understanding of either Rational Software Architect or Rational Team Concert (use, administration and customisation)

Experience of deploying either Rational Software Architect or Rational Team Concert into a geographically-dispersed, global delivery organisation

Experience in traditional Waterfall software development processes and Agile software development processes

Experience of advising customers on the best use of the Rational toolset, and how to maximise value from the Rational toolset

Proficient at communicating strategies, policies and complex technical issues to both business and technical audiences; comfortable when presenting to a senior/large audience

Fully-flexible approach to working hours and working away from home during the week; willing to work nationally, with the potential to work internationally if desired

Presentable, motivational and articulate with good communication skills

Strong interpersonal skills

Experienced at understanding clients' needs and interpreting their requirements to the wider business

Deep technical understanding of Rational Team Concert v4.0.1

Experience of the following RTC capabilities and how to best deploy these capabilities to a large user base:

Planning

Work Item Management for Waterfall programme delivery

Work Item Management for Agile programme delivery

Familiarity with Agile concepts and the use of Rational Team Concept to implement those concepts

Collaboration

Configuration Management

Administration/Customisation

For Rational Software Architect:

Deep technical understanding of Rational Software Architect v8.0.4, v8.05 and v8.5

Experience of the following RSA capabilities and how to best deploy these capabilities to a large user base:

Unified Modelling Language and Deployment Planning

Java code development

XML and XML Schemas

Creating and deploying Eclipse plug-ins

Reporting design coupled with an understanding of the underlying Meta Model for RSA and RTC
