Rail Engineering Consultant

Our Client, a Rail Organisation, requires an interim Senior Rail Engineer for a minimum 3 month assignment, while recruiting for a permanent person, to act as a liaison for the various industry bodies and to consult and advise on various Rolling Stock engineering initiatives.

This is largely a business as usual role and requires the Senior Engineer to carry on with projects which are already in place as well as any other projects which may be introduced over the interim period. A large part of the role requires digesting large amounts of information relating to the engineering initiatives and meeting with the cross industry members involved with this; in some cases this may be documents relating to very simple engineering elements or may be more complex such as those relating high speed trains, although It will primarily have a mechanical focus.

The right person will have a broad rail mechanical engineering background, perhaps electrical but will have been involved in a TOC engineering environment and have held a mid senior level position and will be familiar with safety regulations, European and UK legislation and Technical Standards for interoperability; Euronorms and GB Standards relevant to rolling stock interfaces. They will need strong stakeholder skills and be able to present and report to a board level and be comfortable with representing the organisation and making decisions on there behalf. They will also need to be familiar with the reading and writing of technical specifications and be able communicate these effectively as well as being a chartered engineer.
