Radio Planning & Optimisation Engineer

RADIO PLANNING E OPTIMISATION ENGINEER

We require a Radio planner/optimiser who is able to support both the high level and detailed planning of a network for LCC's client a major UK Mobile Network Operator.

Responsibilities will include:

- Neighbour, frequency and scrambling code planning using Atoll and other system tools.
- Creating site data build scripts, including new 2G, 3G, U900 and LTE
- Optimisation of all intersystem handovers
- Optimisation of site configuration for traffic
- Cluster optimisation of sites to meet KPI's
- Preparation of clear and accurate performance reports
- Plan drive tests on new sites and analyse results. Implement changes
- Use of live network ops tools such as NetAct to view commissioning files and alarms
- Monitoring of existing site performance in the network

Expected Qualifications and Experience:

- Analysis of TEMS and ASCOM drive tests
- Use of radio planning/optimisation tools such as Atoll, NetAct and Ericsson OSS
- Use of network statistics tools such as Mycom Proptima
- Proficient in the use of geo-data tools such as Mapinfo
- Use of operations support and change control tools such as Amdocs or Clarify
- A sound understanding of GSM and WCDMA air interface is essential
- Ability to quickly identify hardware problems/site configuration is essential
- Ability to quickly optimise antenna pans/tilts to maximise frequency re-use eficiency is essential
- A sound understanding of interference containment and ideal cell placement is essential
- BSc (Eng) or MSc. Electronics, Electrical Engineering or equivalent with a concentration or specialization evident in Communications is preferred
- A minimum of 5 years experience in wireless radio network optimisation in the UK is essential.
- 7 years + is preferred
- LTE experience is preferred
- Previous consulting experience is preferred

Responsibility for Technical Leadership

Engineers will be expected to utilize appropiate interpersonal styles and methods in guiding individuals who are either reports, peers or superiors, or a group/team towards achievement of a task or goal. The engineer shourd adhere to and utilize LCC people management systems.

The engineer will make use of prior knowledge and experience, the ability to obtain support from peers within the company/project, to rapidly learn and develop new understanding and competence in a challenging and rapidly developing field.

By establishing and exercising technical leadership the engineer will aim to be recognized by LCC, the client and the project team as a trusted authority in key technical areas.

Communications Skills:

- The engineer must develop effective communications skills, and be skilled at writing professional reports, giving presentations, and communicating during meetings. It is also important to listen to customers and colleagues, understand their needs and be open to new ideas
