Radio Frequency (RF) Design Engineer

This role will primarily be to perform optimization efforts on ALU - UMTS/LTE RF networks and to represent the company in various technical meetings, both internal (new site feasibility walks, pre-launch readiness review for new RF network elements, Post launch optimization) and external (In-building coverage evaluation for major business customers, venue coverage/capacity evaluation for high profile customer events, public venue coverage evaluation)

- The contractor will be responsible to support RF optimization efforts for existing network elements
- review new RF network elements for launch readiness (Review sweeps, PIMs, E911, drive test)
- The contractor may be asked to perform new element optimization tasks generally performed by equipment vendor (set up pre-optimization parameters including neighbors (Relations), layer management, SIB parameters, tilts, hardware configuration, drive test new network element, etc.)
- Review chronic site/top KPI offender evaluation/optimization (solution presentation for RF Design), GWS drive evaluation (solutions presentation)
- Optimization efforts shall include (Drive test to identify problem, parameter manipulation/Antenna tilts to improve site)
- prepare recommendations RF design modification to be send to RF design team
- Day to day RF Optimization of the Mobility network (GSM/UMTS/LTE). Primary focus will be the 4 corners area of NM/Southern Colorado, Provide motoring for less experienced engineers
- Support the Radio Frequency (RF) team in designing and optimizing a network with focus on RF coverage and quality
- Provide RF inputs to the New Site Build process, including: Search ring definition and presentation to site acquisition; Candidate assessment against coverage goals and company design KPI; Site visit and understanding of RF Quality impact of construction constraints; Construction drawings verification regarding aspects influencing RF performance; Supporting data management including RF Data Sheets
- Create Technical Approval packages, supported by Design and Optimization KPI
- Deep understanding/experience of RF design, including site design, antenna pattern choices, model tuning and limitations, 3G/LTE Monte-Carlo simulations
- Deep understanding/experience of site implementation constraints, including quality vs. implement ability, construction and site acquisition interactions, candidate identification, site design options for flagpoles or stealth sites
- Use of planning tools (Atoll, Planet or other), and automated cell tuning tools (ACP)
- Strong communication skills and knowledge of Microsoft Suites
- Knowledge of low sites/oDAS deployments and limitations is a plus
- Experience in RF Optimization and parameter tuning
- Coordinates performance improvement efforts requiring both Design and Optimization techniques.

SKILLS:

BSEE in Electrical Engineering or equivalent by experience

- Contractor should have strong familiarity with network configuration tools - WMS(UMTS)/SAM(LTE) and network analysis tools -TEMS, Atoll, windcatcher, actix
- Experience in field trials, either feature/parameter optimization or new feature/element validation, or in large scale and service impacting design changes
- Proven reliable team player by longer term assignments and expanded responsibility level.
