RAD Developer - Java/Oracle/SQL £500 Scotland

My global Tier 1 Banking client in SCOTLAND / STIRLING, is looking for a contractor to join their team. The role is for a RAD / Tactical Developer: This will be a rolling 6 month contract paying £500/day. The requirement is for an experienced developer, who may be required to work on a combination of 'change the bank' (e.g. development) and 'maintain the bank' (e.g. evergreening/upgrades) projects. The ideal candidate will have experience in a rapid application development, or in a tactical development environment. They will have engaged with end-users to determine requirements, and analysed and implemented them while complying with all relevant IT regulations and policies. They will also have engaged with IT Operations organizations to ensure that the IT estate is fit for purpose. The key qualities we are looking for are: 1. Results-oriented; takes responsibility and gets the job done 2. Self-driven; can work without close supervision 3. Able to rapidly familiarise themself with legacy technology / applications or platforms which they are not already proficient with 4. Able to effectively work with the team leader to determine priorities in situations where multiple issues compete for attention 5. Able to adapt to organizational policies and practices, and to work within them to progress and complete work 6. Good communications skills, as the successful candidate will be based in Stirling and will need to work closely with some other team members in London, and will have to engage with multiple stakeholders in order to do their job effectively Responsibilities 1. Implement change requests / requests for enhancements and perform upgrades and migrations, and drive the process to take these to the production environment. 2. Document programs / activities as necessary. Desired Technical Skills 1. Oracle 10g and 11g, SQL Server 2000 and 2005. 2. Java SE 5.x and above, and also web applications with Java 5 (e.g. Struts, JSP). 3. Familiarity with development best practices including unit testing & source control (knowledge of Rational Team Concert would be a plus). 4. Familiarity with investment banking IT environments a definite plus APPLY ASAP
