R2 Systems Engineer Linux

Our client is a VERY HIGH-VISIBILITY COMPUTER COMPONENTS MANUFACTURER seeking a SYSTEMS ENGINEER to support and improve build and release systems and tools to enable open source engineering.

Responsibilities will include security patching, test environment deployments, tool automation and testing, troubleshooting.

REQUIREMENTS:

- B.S or M.S in Computer Science, or Electrical Engineering, or Computer Engineering or equivalent + 4 years of experience
- Experience with OpenSuse, Fedora, Ubuntu, and Debian Linux distributions
- Experience administering production Linux Servers, serving multiple users
- Experience with git, Apache, postfix, OpenSSH server software
- Expertise in at least two Scripting languages (Python, Shell, Perl, TCL, etc.)
- Experience with server-class PC hardware (IBM, HP, Dell, etc.)
- Ability to build Linux software packages from source when needed
- Experience with major package management systems: APT, Yum, Zypper
- Experience with remote-console software (VNC)
- Experience with KVM system virtualization software
- Experience with LVM, the Linux Volume Manager
- Experience with networking protocols: HTTP, https, TCP/IP, ssh, SMTP, ldap, etc.
- Experience with web server security and applications

ADDITIONAL SKILLS (NICE TO HAVE):

- Experience with git source code control and Gerrit source code review
- Experience with Yocto
- Experience with Nagios system monitoring software
- Experience with rsync and rdist-backup backups software
- Experience with Jenkins continuous integration software
- Experience with serial attached storage (SAS)
- Experience with Ganeti virtual machine management software
- Experience with XEN virtualization
