R&D Project Leader

Our client is a multinational pharmaceutical company located in Walloon Brabant and is looking for a RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT PROJECT LEADER. The R&D PROJECT LEADER will lead a disease mapping project.

Scope of work:

The role aims to bring direction to lead and manage a Disease Mapping exercise on gastro-intestinal and enteric diseases, a team-driven prioritization exercise guided by a methodology developed in-house (R&D department). The objective of the mapping exercise is to prioritize diseases for vaccine development in this area.

- Conduct disease area analysis and review the opportunity of targeting new disease.
- The leader is expected to contribute to, and assign to team members the review and analysis of external information (scientific and medical litterature as well as competitive & market intelligence), and to provide a critical view on this information to contribute to the quality of the analysis.
- The insights to achieve this goal are based on coordinating inputs from different key stakeholders with varied expertise in the medical, scientific and commercial fields.
- The leader is expected to maximize the value of the mapping exercise by creating team synergy and consolidating the participants views.
- In addition to the disease mapping exercise, the candidate is requested to contribute to the delivery of two "value packs" for Ebola Hemorrhagic Fever and periodontitis (diseases may vary).
- Value packs are Powerpoint documents gathering the information and insights necessary to the creation of target product profiles for these two diseases.
- As part of the value pack development work, generate insights towards the development of Target Product Profile (TPP) by integrating collective knowledge from all related functions in current R&D, the GVCoE and the new development organization
- Identify and build effective relationships with partners/stakeholders in R&D, Health Outcomes, Regulatory Affairs, Medical Affairs, Commercial and External Experts.

Requirements:

Education:
* Scientific, Pharmacy or medically-related field.
* Sound knowledge of life and medical sciences. (understanding of disease and scientific rationale.
* MD, PhD or equivalent level of experience in Pharma R&D, clinical, medical, product development.

Specific skills:
* Good communication skills.
* Good inter-personal skills.
* Exhibit strategic thinking, environmental and cultural awareness
* Demonstrated effective interpersonal, communications and negotiation skills for a wide variety of audiences, including senior management.

Knowledge:
* Proficient in computer operations and main software packages (Word, Excel, Powerpoint).
* Experience in late drug/vaccine development is considered as an asset
* Fluent knowledge of English required. French or other international languages are an asset.

Experience:
* 3-5 years in pharmaceutical medical affairs/R&D/Clinical/RA/HO/PM/commercial.
* Project management experience is an asset

Knowledge of the Pharmaceutical Industry:
* Understanding of the different disciplines involved.
* Conceptual understanding of the drug/vaccine discovery, research, development and commercialization process.
