R&D Geophysicist Team Lead

Geophysicist Researcher will be the Technical Leader for Seismic Anisotropic and Elastic Forward Modeling, and will play a leading role in developing the R&D strategy in these fields. The selected candidate will have a track-record of creating and linking innovative geophysical solutions to industry business challenges. They will also enjoy working in a collaborative environment with service team, business unit and vendor partners, testing and applying new technologies for direct business impact. The primary accountabilities include:

* Working on techniques for large scale forward modeling of geophysical data, principally seismic, for both conceptual models and data collected in field experiments.
* Analyzing results and comparing potential to field data.
* Applying fluid substitution methods.
* Applying methodologies for modeling fracture and fault effects in surface seismic data.
* Applying geophysical models to simulate both borehole and surface-based geophysical measurements.
* Leading investigative efforts using field and model data to provide a basis for solutions to business challenges.
* Developing prototype algorithms and workflows that deepen insights into technical direction for production-scale solutions.
* Developing techniques and applying existing programs for seismic forward modeling computation.

Required Qualifications: In order to perform the accountabilities of this position, candidates must be able to demonstrate:

A minimum of Ph. D. in Geophysics or related fields such as Physics or Applied Mathematics.
* Legal authorization to work in the US.
* A minimum of 5 years direct Oil and Gas industry experience beyond Ph.D. in Seismic Imaging Processing R&D field.
* Strong research skills with expertise in geophysics and a strong interest in numerical modeling.
* Experience with numerical modeling of 3D elastic, anisotropic, wave propagation.
* Experience with numerical modeling of geophysical measurements.
* Experience developing techniques and applying existing programs for seismic forward modeling computation.
* Strong analytical skills, with experience in data-driven investigation of algorithms, workflows and technologies
* Broad experience and knowledge of capability available in the marketplace
* Extensive experience in multi-company joint technology ventures
* Strong interest and track record of developing and applying integrated, multi-disciplinary solutions.
* Ability to identify and solve problems, use observational data for improving models, and implement alternative solutions.
* Experience in managing projects: planning, directing, coordinating, and conducting earth science research
