Quantity Surveying Technician

QUANTITY SURVEYING TECHNICIAN with HNC or equivalent required for initial 12 WEEK CONTRACT with PUBLIC SECTOR organisation in ABERDEEN.

Your role will be to provide pre and post contract Quantity Surveying services in the submission of tenders and estimates and to carry out measurement and valuation of work undertaken by the client to enable accurate recovery of monies and monitoring of charges made.

Duties will include:

- Deal with contracts, including evaluation and comparison of sub contractors quotes, tenders, tender/contract drawings, bill of quantities and description of works, identifying and valuing variations to contract and authorising payment of invoices for materials and sub contract work.
- Deal with tenders & estimates, including submitting tenders and preparing budget costs and estimates for capital and minor works.
- Deal with maintenance contracts, including updating rates (labour and material) within spreadsheets and valuing and submitting details of work carried out to allow recharges to be processed.
- Deal with cost advice/control, including preparing cost control reports to enable monitoring of contracts on-going financial status and recovery/payment of any monies due and producing financial year forecasts for annual tenders and for individual services/departments contained within contracts.

Experience required:

- HNC or equivalent level qualification in Quantity Surveying or related discipline.
- Demonstrable commitment to continuing professional development.
- Specific building construction knowledge
- Standard Method of Measurement (SMM 7).
- Standard Conditions of Contract, ie Scottish Building Conditions of Contract (S.B.C.C.) including Minor Works and Measured Term.
- Knowledge of the current statutory framework
