Quality & Materials Process Engineering Group Inspector

DESCRIPTION:
Seeking an Inspector to perform in-line inspections and basic equipment maintenance. The Technical Division is responsible for Engineering, Fabrication and Manufacturing of devices used at Research Facilities. The group is responsible for the development, issuance and control of travelers and other associated documentation, which are used by production personnel in the assembly of devices. In addition they are responsible for the in-process QC inspections of devices including electrical, hydrostatic testing, vacuum leak checking, mechanical tolerance measurements and other inspections as required by the project.

REQUIRED SKILLS:

- Ability to perform mechanical and electrical inspections as well as helium leak checking of vacuum and cryogenic systems using helium mass spectrometers.
- Ability to design and assemble fixtures used for performing the testing.
- Skill in the use of micrometers, calipers, and other hand-held measuring tools, to verify dimensions of parts/assemblies.
- Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Windows, Email, data entry, Excel, and Word.
- A candidate must be able to read and comprehend mechanical and electrical drawings.
- Ability to perform some amount of maintenance on mechanical roughing pumps, oil diffusion pumps, leak detectors and related electronic components.
- A candidate must have general experience with basic hand and power tools. Experience with machining and welding would be helpful, but not required.
- Excellent organizational skills and ability to quickly adapt to changing priorities.
- A candidate must be fluent in understanding, speaking and writing English.
