Background

A Role for a Quality Manager has arisen within the Defence Sector and its based in the South West

Main Duties/Responsibilities
In this post the Quality Manager will be responsible for the maintenance of an effective Quality Assurance programme across the Project Team, encompassing the full spectrum of project and in-service support activities. In addition, the quality manager will also be responsible for working with Industry to address quality issues and the Unit to develop the Continuing Airworthiness Management Organisation (CAMO) Quality System. The QA Focal Point co-ordinates and monitors all project related QA activities in relation to contracts and is the main point of contact for the GQAR.

Specifically:
a. Advise and support Chinook Project Team Senior Management, Project Team and the Support Authority on quality issues and policy using the guidance located in the Acquisition Operating Framework (AOF).
b. Develop and maintain the Chinook Project Team Quality Assurance Strategy and Plan and manage the development of Quality Metrics so that contract performance can be measured.
c. Maintain the Quality Assurance standards within the Chinook Safety Case(s).
d. Tasking of local GQARs to provide risk based surveillance, to review, manage and record all PT tasking.
e. Act as the Project Team focal point for New build/Major programme concessions, liaising with Defence Quality Assurance Field Force (DQAFF), Project Managers and Subject Matter Experts (SME's) in the review and acceptance/rejection and recording of non conformances.
f. Chinook Project Team Lead on the Quality Management System.
g. Review Business Cases for appropriate QA conditions.
h. Manage the QA risks within the Chinook Risk register.
i. Advising on suitability of potential suppliers with respect to Quality matters. Performing pre-contract award evaluation of potential suppliers/contractors to ensure QA compliance. Check bidding suppliers/contractors previous QA track record.
j. Host and assist with the various DES QA audit team visits and attend DES Quality Forum.
k. Attend Quality Assurance Group meetings as required.
l. Lead Chinook Project Team Continual Improvement programme through the establishment of rigorous auditing procedures.
m. Carry out Project Teams internal audits, submitting reports to the Chinook Management Board.
n. Manage Quality Occurrence Reports (QORs) within the Chinook PT, maintaining the QOR database, investigation of QORs and liaising with suppliers & external organisations.
