Quality Engineer

Yoh has a six (6) month plus contract position for a QUALITY ENGINEER to join our client in Kent, WA.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Perform new product introduction activities related to qualifying parts from suppliers.
- Review part lists, structures and requirements.
- Produce PSWs (Part Submission Warrants) to specify PPAP requirements to suppliers.
- Track and report progress in preparing, auditing and recording PPAP status of parts and suppliers for a project.
- Review part quality requirements as specified by drawings and part descriptions in the MRP system.
- Interact with departments and suppliers to coordinate PPAP submissions and clarify requirements and results.
- Assist in first build, and report out processes including lessons learned.
- Analyze, troubleshoot and implement fixes to production issues on the line.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

- Bachelor's Degree in Manufacturing, Industrial, or Mechanical Engineering and five (5) years of experience in a manufacturing environment required.
- Must demonstrate a working knowledge and be skilled at the application of the principles and practices of Lean Manufacturing
- Strong Quality System Development and Auditing (ISO: 9001, 13485, TS-29001, AS-9100, TS-16949) skills as well as product and supplier auditing skills.
- Use metrics to manage and drive improvement.
- Competent in the use of basic production equipment, grinders, drill presses, lathes, mills, welding, etc.
- Knowledge of materials, metals and the heat treatment of metals is desirable
- Strong computer skills in a MS-Windows environment.

PREFERRED JOB SKILLS/EXPERIENCE/KNOWLEDGE:

- Understanding of production and inspections tools, techniques and their application to engineering requirements is desirable.
- Demonstrated abilities in tool, fixture and gage design is a plus.
- Ability to update drawings using Solid Edge, Unigraphics, and AutoCAD is desirable.
- Two (2) years of experience in general machining of metals is desirable.
- Further experience in gear manufacturing and/or welding technology, assembly, and demand flow technology is a plus.
