Quality Engineer

Client in Southern New Hampshire is looking to add a Quality Engineer to their team for a 3-6 month contract. This position is responsible for the development and implementation of cost improvement projects. The qualified candidate must work in a team environment to develop robust and repeatable processes. In addition, this position will be responsible for the maintenance and implementation of systems and procedures to ensure product quality and its systemic and effective control with the goal to improve process performance. This position interfaces with customers to ensure quality standards are identified, defined and met and nonconformities are resolved utilizing tools such as six sigma, lean manufacturing techniques, and kaizen events.

RESPONSIBILITIES

- Researches and recommends changes to manufacturing processes to increase efficiency and/or reduce costs, increase product quality, or provide greater personal and/or environmental safety
- Assists in the development of new products/processes and their transition to routine production
- Develops procedures and trains supervisory, management, and operator personnel in new process as developed
- Create/facilitate all procedures and work instructions for area of responsibility in accordance with ISO standards
- ISO-9000 Systems Advocate: evaluate and report on state of quality system; review, support, and improve quality systems, procedures, and practices. Partner with Operations to facilitate short term problem solving and long term system improvements.

REQUIREMENTS

- Bachelors Degree in a Chemical or Mechanical Engineering discipline preferred
- 2-3 years experience in manufacturing engineering role
- Quality experience in a government project/program environment
- Ability to develop, create, justify, and implement engineering projects
- Knowledge of Quality Management principles and practices
- Knowledge of ISO-9001, QS-9000, or other Quality Systems standards; experience in Quality Auditing to ISO-9000 and/or QS-9000 standards preferred
- Knowledge and application of continuous improvement techniques and systems within manufacturing environments preferred (Six Sigma, Kanban, lean manufacturing, 8D, Kaizen, etc.)
- ASQ-CQE (Certified Quality Engineer) or ASQ-CQA (Certified Quality Auditor) or ISO/QS Lead Auditor credentials preferred
