Quality Control Technician

RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Participate as a key member of the Quality Control (QC) department responsible for overseeing basic aspects within the QC department and quality improvement efforts.
- Provide support to the QC department to ensure that the day-to-day quality issues are addressed to achieve food safety and quality.
- Coordinate the detection, identification, and resolution of any non-conformances within the QC system.
- Day-to-day plant audits and sampling.
- Plant hygiene monitoring.
- Laboratory analysis and compilation of data for raw, in process, and finished goods.
- Maintenance and calibration of QC equipment.
- Data review and reporting.
- Support and assist the QC department as needed.
- Basic understanding of HACCP programs.
- Participate in any and all sensory panels without limitation.
- Basic knowledge of QC standards.
- Follow all systems to provide safe and legal products.
- Other duties may be required and assigned as necessary.
- Provide timely guidance and feedback to help others strengthen specific knowledge and skill areas needed to accomplish a task or solve a problem.
- Clearly convey information and ideas through a variety of media to individuals or groups in a manner that engages the audience and helps them understand and retain the message.

SKILLS

Bachelor's degree in a Scientific discipline. 0-12 months experience in quality role in the food industry. Working knowledge of microbiology risks and controls. Basic understanding of the calibration and upkeep of laboratory instruments. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public. Ability to work with mathematical/statistical concepts. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Knowledge of Microsoft Office software. Ability to effectively communicate performance to goals and targets. Ability to form and work effectively with cross functional teams.
