Quality Control Engineer

The Quality Engineer is responsible for helping to implement, maintain and continuously improve Mequon Operations metrics for quality and output. Products include Printed Circuit Board Assembly and low voltage drives assemblies. Responsible for directing, controlling and analysing the technical aspects of the quality programs at the Mequon Operations, and will perform AS9100 and ISO9001 assessment audits.

JOB FUNCTIONS

- Responsible for developing and implementing quality and inspection plan and ISO requirements, as well as scheduling and coordinating quality audits.
- Monitors quality of outgoing product; coordinating audits and following through on corrective action.
- Maintains an effective working relationship with other departments, providing support and guidance in the solution of quality problems.
- Prepares, maintains and presents quality reports as required
- Develops, modifies, applies and maintains quality standards and protocols.
- Provides direction to Quality Assurance technicians, and training to manufacturing associates in quality-related topics
- Reviews and analyzes process data results for continued improvement and implement changes as required.
- Drives efforts to reduce rolled throughput yield loss (RTYL) with a focus on training, defect prevention and continuous improvements through the application and utilization of Lean/Continuous Improvement tools.
- Works with Customer Support to monitor customer feedback and in conjunction with the management team, develops actions to improve as appropriate.
- Establishes appropriate inspection and test methods and equipment to validate product and process characteristics.
- Develop and evaluates process capability studies, process control plans, analysis of out-of-control conditions and process audits with the objective or improving process performance and capability.

- Ensures thorough familiarity with company policies and procedures. Appropriately applies policies and procedures in compliance with government laws. Policies and procedures include, but not limited to: Standard of Business Conduct, Intellectual Property, Control Environment, Information Protection, ISO9000 & 14000, governmental regulations (eg health, safety, quality and environmental), and the company's functional policies.

QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE

- Technical knowledge of electro-mechanical manufacturing processes
- Background in quality control and statistical techniques or 3 to 5 years of manufacturing or quality experience
- Previous experience with Printed Circuit Board Assembly (PCBA) processes and products
- Familiarity with SAP preferred
- Must be well versed in root cause analysis and corrective actions using the 8D methodology, FMEA's, cause and effect diagrams, process capability studies, Measurement Systems Analysis (MSA), Design of Experiments and other analytical tools as required
- Previous experience creating, developing, and deploying AIAG PPAP elements (ie control plans) for production processes
- Must be pro-active and personable
- Excellent ability to plan (strong project management skills)
- Good problem solving skills and judgment required
- BS degree in Mechanical Engineering/Electrical Engineering/Industrial Engineering
- Six Sigma Green Belt certification

Duration: 12 months with possible extension and possible conversion to Contract to Hire.
