Quality Assurance Engineer

For this contract position, our industrial client is looking for a Quality Assurance Engineer to provide support to the client's Supplier Quality Program.

OVERVIEW

- Ensures suppliers deliver quality parts, materials, and services and qualifies suppliers according to company standards.
- Monitors parts from acquisition through the manufacturing cycle and communicates and resolves supplier related problems.
- Develops and prioritizes an auditing schedule to ensure that designated suppliers are audited on a regular basis to ensure good manufacturing practices and quality standards are met.
- Evaluates suppliers and administers supplier development programs when necessary.
- Develops, evaluates, revises, and applies technical quality assurance protocols/methods to inspect and test in-process raw materials, production equipment, and finished products.
- Ensures activities and items are in compliance with both company quality assurance standards and applicable government regulations.
- Performs analysis and identifies trends in the inspection of finished products, in-process materials and bulk raw materials, and recommends corrective actions when necessary.
- Ensures that established manufacturing inspection, sampling and statistical process control procedures are followed.
- Ensures compliance with internal and external specifications and standards such as ISO regulations.
- Evaluates and analyzes the efforts in organizing, documenting, and interpreting inspection support documents and records.
- Leads/participates in customer issue resolution, New Product Launch, or product improvement meetings.
- Ensures all commodity issues are driven to closure.
- May have team/project leadership responsibility.

QUALIFICATIONS

- Typically requires 0-2 years of experience
- Must have a Bachelor's Degree in Engineering with preference to Industrial, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
- Experience working in manufacturing, supplier, or quality engineering functions with electrical or electromechanical products
- Comprehensive knowledge of ISO 9001, Auditing Practices, and Quality Systems
- Strong knowledge of statistical quality applications, metrology, and manufacturing and quality control standards as well as familiarity with electronic and/or mechanical components a plus
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong project management and problem solving skills
- Strong team building, leadership, decisiveness, and communication skills required
- Self-motivation capable of working with some supervision
- Proficiency in the use of computer systems and software
- May require 25% travel
