Are you looking to develop a career as a Purchasing Manager? If so Thales Ground Transportation Systems (GTS) have an exciting new opportunity for a Purchasing Bid Manager to work within the Thales Bids Purchasing Team. This role will give the successful candidate exposure to all purchasing activities with a focus on supporting the Bid Teams within Thales Ground Transport Systems. You will coordinate the resources within the GTS Purchasing team to support specific bids in an appropriate and timely manner. You will ideally possess a MCIPS qualification and have experience of working in a fast paced purchasing and bid environment. You should be a driven individual that has excellent communication and organisational skills and enjoy working as part of a successful team. Key responsibilities and tasks:

To play a key role in formulating and implementing the Make/Team/Buy strategy for the Project.
Manage the negotiation of subcontracts to support budget constraints and achieve timely performance whilst minimising programme risk and exploiting programme opportunities, including appropriate Customer flowdown.
Work with the Bid/Programme team, to develop the Procurement Strategy for the allocated Bid and ensure the strategy is communicated within the Bid or Programme and Function.
Lead a Sourcing Strategy Meeting at the outset of any new Bid - preferably prior to Gate 1 reviews.
Manage the development of the supply chain architecture to meet needs of the Bid
Development of the Acquisition Plan with the Family Managers to identify how the procurement strategy would be implemented across the Project, based on a reviewed and modified company Subcontract Management Process that is appropriate for the Project.
Play a key role in defining and implementing strategies to meet the offset/industrial participation needs of the Domain where appropriate.
Focus and optimise supply chain costs early in the life cycle ensuring savings are achievable during project delivery phase.
Analyse costs of services, products and systems to identify focus areas or opportunities for reduction.
Contribute to inventory reduction initiatives through the application of effective planning and management
Manage the drafting and negotiation of agreements - MOUs, SLAs, Teaming Agreements, Subcontracts etc.

Experienced in using ERP systems
Commercially astute with negotiation skills and experience
Self Starter with well-developed organisational skills
Experience of working in a multi-discipline team environment
Business or Engineering degree, or equivalent would be desirable.
MCIPS qualified desirable

This position is for a fixed term basis of six months.
