TITLE: Purchasing
SALARY: to £25k
COMPANY: Well established engineering company
LOCATION: Bucks, M40 corridor

My client is a growing company developing bespoke special purpose machinery and are a tier one supplier for the UK's leading automotive and aerospace manufacturers. They need a Purchasing professional to cover for maternity leave on a 1 year fixed term contract. This is a hands-on role running their day to day purchasing and stock control requirements in a busy operational environment.

Your responsibilities will be to:
Ensure best value for money from suppliers
Ensure that suppliers' services are on time, well integrated and overall performing well
Ensure that bought parts and materials support the efficient flow of projects through the organisation (including stock control)
Ensure that purchase order and goods in processes are followed, including directly controlling purchasing and goods in.
Work with project engineering and design teams to order all necessary parts for projects.
Maintain systems and processes for the efficient control of purchasing across all parts of the company
Track and control the delivery of all project parts
Identify cost saving opportunities such as, introducing new suppliers, renegotiating terms, and getting better deals on regularly bought items.
Place orders and track the delivery of sub-contracted services such as fabrication and machining to ensure delivery on time and quality. Ensure that current status of all work is well understood in project engineering team.
Ensure that incoming goods are placed in the correct places by the workshop team. Hands on goods-in handling from time to time.
Working with production team ensure that stock control processes are in place and fully integrated with suppliers
Keep up purchase order book up to date with status of all outstanding orders
Attend Drawing Release meetings and set up resulting project boxes.
Manage stock levels and re-order as necessary according to stock control system
Monitor/control 6 vehicles ensuring insurance, service, etc. is up to date.
Sale of parts and spares from received email and fax orders. Record orders into system, forward quote to customer and arrange for fulfilment of orders.
Maintain supplier register accurately and up to date.

ESSENTIAL:
you should have experience as a buyer or purchasing or procurement or stock control specialist. You will be a confident, energetic self-starter

USEFUL:
CIP qualified,procurement, buying, stock control, project management, project office, sales administration, supplier management and negotiation, experience within the engineering, automotive, aerospace or manufacturing industries.

This is initially a 1 year fixed term contract on a pro-rata permanent salary but may progress to a permanent position as the company is growing rapidly.
