Prototype Engine Builder

Our client is looking for an experienced Prototype Engine Builder initially for a 3 month contract. In the role of Prototype Engine Builder you will be required to work on a variety of programmes you will be responsible for building prototype engines and the main duties will include preparing components for assembly, recording critical engine assembly measurements, modifying and fabricating engine components, as well as providing support and presenting data to engineers.

MAIN DUTIES INCLUDE:

- To build and install prototype engines
- To prepare components for assembly
- To install full vehicle instrumentation packages
- To carry out fabrication and fitment of prototype parts
- To record critical engine build data
- To contribute to problem solving
- To support off-site/overseas secondments
- To be conversant with all aspects of basic measuring equipment
- To have good fabrication and machining skill
- To help and assist in report writing
- To raise Engineering concerns where applicable
- To work in a manner safe for self and others in compliance with the MPT Health, Safety and Environmental policy
- To support other activities as required

QUALIFICATIONS

Automotive City & Guilds ONC/HNC in Mechanical Engineering

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

- An understanding of base engine operation and a working knowledge of engine management systems is required.
- Previous experience within a prototype engine build environment would be beneficial but not essential.
- An understanding of vehicle electrical systems
- Good team player
- Able to work on own initiative
- Good organisational skills and able to multitask
- Good interpersonal skills
