JOB TITLE: PROPERTY SURVEYOR/ESTATE SURVEYOR

LOCATION: NOTTINGHAM

CONTRACT: 9 MONTHS (WITH POSSIBLE EXTENSION)

RATE: UPTO £300 PER DAY

OVERVIEW:

This role is to support the strategic management of accommodation across 400 properties located throughout GB to meet the business needs and aspirations of the Agency. The post holder will determine the programme of management of the north property portfolio ensuring the estate meets property legislation and statute and is managed effectively to maximize occupation, best practise, and value for money and financial efficiency

The post holder will report directly to the Head of Corporate Estate Management. They will have line management responsibilities. This post is located at the headquarters in Nottingham.

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

- Candidates MUST hold MRICS qualification.
- Experience of managing a property function, including administrative and technical staff, in a multi-functional and geographically dispersed organisation.

NOTE: Travel will be required between sites (however a hire service will be given)

ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITY:

- Develop, lead, implement and record and monitor individual property asset management strategies for the property portfolio in the north.
- Provide strategic advice, management, support and vision on the utilization, development, estate management and disposal of all property assets in the north and contribute to and implement the estates transformation and asset management plan programme within agreed timescales ensuring that a coordinated and consistent approach is taken.
- In respect of the DVSA asset management plan establish and maintain reportable and relevant standards and property performance indicators for the management of the DVSA estate, facilities and assets.
- Represent the DVSA as landlord or tenant in all matters associated with its commercial land and property assets including negotiations of new leases, lease renewals, rent reviews, legal and property disputes and valuation disputes in the north.
- Provide valuation/appraisals, business cases and reports for all purposes and provide professional advice as necessary to internal stakeholders and externally where appropriate.
- Undertake acquisition of land and buildings to achieve objectives of the DVSA and asset management plan.
- Through regular liaison, networking and collaborative working with colleagues across the Agency and client, help to contribute to the joined up approach to the wider DVSA and client objectives.
- Manage the Agency property disposal programme: track, anticipate and be aware of proposed closures from other property managers and maintain trackers and data records to report to Estates Board and DfT. Review land and property and coordinate/manage the disposals implementing the resulting actions. Optimise capital receipts within an agreed timeframe.
- Identify underperforming assets and assess opportunity costs to optimise use of property.
- Lead, plan, manage and instruct on the dilapidations programme.
