Prop Artist Job

PROP ARTIST needed for a long term contract opportunity with Yoh's client in San Diego, CA.

THE BIG PICTURE - TOP SKILLS YOU SHOULD POSSESS:

- Game engines and artist tools
- Zbrush, Mudbox
- Art production-pipeline

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING:

- The 3D Prop Artist is responsible for designing exceptional environment props in keeping with the art style determined by the client and management team.
- Work with the Environment Artist and Lead Artist to create props that match the provided information from block in through completion of assets within a scheduled timeframe
- Communicate problem areas, expectations, and desired modifications to leads
- Optimize props to run at desirable poly counts, texture size and fit within memory limitations
- Assist in the successful creation of props, UV mapping, texture maps, normal maps, shader setup
- Create clean and organized assets, file structures and storage
- Keep abreast of changes and improvements made to the game engine and production pipeline during development

WHAT YOU NEED TO BRING TO THE TABLE:

- Art-related college degree: BA or BF a plus
- Abundant experience with game engines and artist tools, including fluency in Maya, Photoshop and normal map tools such as Crazy Bump and XNormal.
- Experience with Zbrush, Mudbox
- Working knowledge of art production-pipeline, including understanding of memory, optimal poly counts, texture limitations and general workflow efficiency.
- Portfolio or reel demonstrating strong competency in the following areas:
- 3D hard surface modelling and texturing, with examples of vehicles and prop objects
- Cartoony and/or Non-Photorealistic examples.
- Samples showing a strong understanding of color theory and shape design
- Wireframe and UV examples.
- Strong work ethic and attention to detail.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
