Project Solicitor

I'm currently recruiting for a Project Solicitor to work for my clients based in Stockport, Cheshire. The role is contracted for 3 months at this stage. It is intended that the post be full-time but flexibility will be required. The rate of pay in this position is £39.00p/h Ltd.

Job Description:
This post-holder will work closely with the Head of Service who will take overall responsibility for the Project work.

The in-house resource will be deployed to manage one of the Project's, initially carrying out a scoping exercise, to determine the work that will need to be undertaken, and that which can be dealt with in-house or externalised. It is expected that the post holder will act as the interface/intelligent client between the Client, the Client Department and external organisations in addition to undertaking any legal drafting and provision of legal advice.

The activity undertaken will include; managing support to the projects day to day, acting as the interface between the Client and external providers, the in-house legal team and the client department, and assisting the Head of Service in ensuring that the Client's interests are protected. An element of the role will be to work alongside the Client leads in the Regeneration Section and act as the "intelligent client". Other activity will include preparation of development agreements, preparation of agreements for lease, funding arrangements, preparation for the subsequent disposals of premises, attendance at internal and external meetings, general supervision of the Projects and guidance to Place.

The post holder will ensure good governance of the projects and ensure adherence to constitutional requirements.

The new partnership between the Client's is expected to generate an increase in commercial property transactions which will require legal support. Subject to capacity, this post holder will be required to assist the legal team with such advice.

Commercial outlook/approach
Significant experience of development projects, contracts, commercial property and procurement
Good knowledge of planning, highways and CPO law
Significant knowledge of constitutional and governance requirements
Significant local government experience
Significant negotiation and communication skills
Ability to work in and lead teams as appropriate
Credibility with stakeholders and "can do" approach
