Project Quantity Surveyor

Project Quantity Surveyor - Permanent or Contract - Wolverhampton

A commercial and dynamic organisation, our client operates in the Energy, Power, Defence and Infrastructure industries providing professional services consultancy across the whole project life cycle.

We operate in a Matrix structure, resulting in a multitude of stakeholders and a variety of opportunities across multiple geographical locations (UK, Middle East and Asia/Pacific).

Due to the rapid expansion of our clients business both within the UK and internationally we have a requirement for a Project Quantity Surveyor to join our expanding Commercial Team.

The role of a Project Quantity Surveyor is to manage all costs relating to projects within a variety of sectors and industries. The Project Quantity Surveyor will be involved with all aspects from the initial calculations and measurement to the final accounts, seeking to enhance value for money whilst achieving the required standards and quality.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES WILL INCLUDE:

- Preparing tender and contract documents with the architect or engineer and/or the client;
- Attend regular Contract Progress meetings ensuring the meeting packs are provided on time and checking the accuracy of the minutes taken
- Carrying out traditional Measurement methods
- Compiling take-offs from Construction drawings and documentation.
- Attend monthly Commercial Progress meetings ensuring the change registers are updated and actions closed.
- Undertaking costs analysis;
- Assisting in establishing a client's requirements and undertaking feasibility studies;
- Monitors all project sanctions levels under their remit and advise the Commercial Manager if sanctions values are at risk.
- Manage the price negotiations on new projects with the contractors, CoreTeam and delivery Project Managers.
- Performing risk and value management and cost control;
- Advising on procurement strategy;
- Identifying, analysing and developing responses to commercial risks;
- Preparing and analysing costing's for tenders;
- Allocating work to subcontractors;
- Providing advice on contractual claims;
- Analysing outcomes and writing detailed progress reports;
- Valuing completed work and arranging payments;
- Maintaining awareness of the different construction contracts in current use;
- Understanding the implications of health and safety regulations.

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/BEHAVIOURS:

- Have at least 5 years' experience in the construction industry.
- They will have a portfolio of previous Projects and be conversant with at least two standard forms of contract including NEC.
- Have experience or appreciation of the risk management process for both schedule and cost and the use of Earned Value Management for construction projects.
- Experience of drafting contractual correspondence on behalf of the Project Manager, preparation of payment certificates and interim financial reports and financial closeout reports.

QUALIFICATIONS

Will hold an RICS recognised degree in Quantity Surveying or Construction Commercial Management.
