An exciting opportunity has arisen to join BAE Systems Maritime Services as a Project Panning Engineer in Portsmouth. The successful candidate will develop, maintain and communicate comprehensive, logically linked and resourced project plans, proactively monitor progress and changes, manage stake holder reviews and produce risk based what-if scenarios and metrics.

As a Project Planning Engineer, your main responsibilities will involve:

Developing and communicating throughout bid and execution phases of a project, a comprehensive and cohesive networked resourced project plan. Incorporating all key milestone dates, Test and Trials activities and encompassing the customer requirements.

Proactively monitoring and updating the progress against the project plan, advising impact of variances to spec, producing metrics and performance reports.

Produce, maintain and analyse resource profiles to meet contractual dates, and ensure alignment with the overall resource demand across the entire portfolio of projects within the business.

Reviewing and analysing the project plan with all stakeholders to ensure it remains credible and useful. Manage stakeholder expectations and produce higher level plans as necessary to assist with strategic level views of the project.

Manage Changes and variations to the plan and ensure that the plan is current on the ERP system.

Preparing and distributing soft and hard copies of the plan, attendance at project meetings.

Visit ships as required in order to validate the progress of work, and maintain constructive relationships with the operations teams.

Assisting the Project Manager in the bid process to ensure a timely completion of a professionally compiled compliant tender.

As a Project Planning Engineer, your skills and qualification will ideally include:

In depth knowledge of production installation/repair structures and processes within a ship repair environment.

Recognised apprenticeship within a ship repair organisation.

A number of years refit/installation/repair experience at increasing levels of responsibility in a shipyard environment. Good knowledge of RN/Commercial platforms and systems.

Experience of Earned Management systems/Critical Path analysis.

Sound knowledge of project scheduling techniques.

Working knowledge of MS Project or Primavera although training will be given.
