WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING:
- This position is responsible for developing project schedule and planning tasks for 100 Million USD project and will be accountable for reviewing, developing and preparing project status reports and baseline variance analysis for project team, project management and executive management.
- The position is also responsible for resource planning and utilization, monitoring project progress, schedule forecasting and tracking engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning, qualification and validation activities for Life Science Projects.
- Develop conceptual and detailed Project schedule baseline.
- Report/escalate deviations against baseline develop root cause for variation and propose risk mitigation strategies or come up with contingency plans to manage baseline deviations.
- Prepare and update an integrated critical path schedule for engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning, qualification & validation phases of projects. Interface with project team and cross functional departments to obtain regular status updates on progress, schedule, forecast and issues
- Review, validate and integrate schedules prepared by outside engineering companies and construction contractors with Master Project schedule. Develop, evaluate and implement new planning and scheduling methods and systems.
- Create standard templates for internal use, develop/update procedures and drive continuous improvement processes to further improve efficiency and to implement innovative business improvements
- Assist with document control, procurement and material management, contracts and engineering coordination.
- Facilitate project risk management and contribute to investigation and resolution of compliance issues
- Determine and execute scheduling/planning tasks independently and in compliance with internal procedures, guidelines, and best practices
- Individuals in this position are key members of capital project team and are often involved in decisions, such as:
- Develop detailed schedule for portfolio projects, develop baseline, manage activities on critical path and analyze deviations against baseline and recommending corrective actions
- Evaluate vendor schedule and integrate with overall project schedule to determine feasibility of meeting critical milestones on the project
- Analyze critical path and constraints to determine effect of changes to schedule and recommend work-around (eg activity crashing etc.)
- Develop/maintain periodic status reports to keep management informed on project progress
- Determine the scheduling sequence for all phases of Design, construction, commissioning and qualification. Ensure the activities are well defined, properly sequenced and comprehensive, properly linked with appropriate constraints such lead, lag etc.
- Perform benchmark against industry standard to determine activity duration, resource requirement, leveling of resources, establishing roles and responsibilities for resources in the schedule.
- Development of training material & training of project managers, engineers & functional managers.
- Completion of scheduling and planning tasks in compliance with internal guidelines, procedures, and best practices
- Organize large amount of data into a coherent meaningful presentation for management
WHAT YOU NEED TO BRING TO THE TABLE:
- Four (4+) or more years of experience in turnaround scheduling/planning
- In-depth knowledge of engineering, procurement, construction, qualification & validation. It is essential that the individual in this position understands how these activities are accomplished in order to develop project schedule.
- A high level of interpersonal skills is crucial to interface with engineering, construction, validation and plant personnel and be able to work at all levels of management to convey information in a clearly understandable fashion.
- Proficiency in project management processes as defined - for example - in the Project Management Body of Knowledge of the Project Management Institute (PMI)
- Extensive hands-on experience Primavera P6, Microsoft project and SAP
- Proficiency in scheduling techniques - for example: earned value analysis, critical path method, and PERT - and investment appraisal techniques
- Excellent knowledge of risk assessment tools and techniques (such for Monte Carlo analysis)
- Experience in developing project-specific planning, scheduling, progress tracking, and reporting aids in- for example - Microsoft Excel, Access and Word
- Field experience for design/build projects with Strong analytical and problem solving skills
