Project Planner - Rail/Construction - Nottingham - 6 months

My client is a successful Rail organisation and an exciting opportunity exists for a Project Planner to join them on an initial 6 months contract out of their offices in Nottingham. Entering the key testing and commissioning phase of the large scale project they have, the ideal candidate will report to the Planning Manager and forecast the work requirements of the testing and commissioning phase of a Tramway project.

Duties:

* Responsible for planning activity and negotiate as appropriate with key stakeholders
* Management of additional works and variation requests
* Interface with all key stakeholders and in respect of operational planning and reporting within the project
* Advise Senior/Lead planner of status and recommend strategies to respond to identified risks
* Compliance to all relevant procedures and to report and recommend any potential improvements
* Management and tracking of project plan
* Define and update the detailed execution planning (TRIP, Gantt, Excel...)
* Provide inputs for the weekly and monthly progress reviews
* Assist in the Testing and Commissioning and Project Integration progress meetings
* Ensure coordination with the Project Managers
* Distribute reports, meeting minutes, corrective action plans and planning updates to the team

Skills:

* Primavera P6 (keen to learn P7)
* Strong exposure within Project planning/project control within large scale projects
* A background in Construction/Rail is highly advantageous
* Testing and Commissioning
* Strong knowledge of Microsoft Project
* Strong awareness of the practical application of risk management
* Stakeholder Management
* Good verbal and written communication
