Senior Project Manager

The Senior Project Manager Role reports to one of the PMO leaders and requires an individual who can manage either a single complex multi-phase project or a portfolio of smaller related or independent projects.

The role requires the ability to handle multiple initiatives, quickly-changing priorities, and customer expectations. A solid knowledge of the day to day operational activities of an IT project life cycle, such as requirements collection, solution design, quality assurance and business analysis are essential.  An execution focus and experience managing to a set of dependent project deliverables is essential.

Because this is a highly visible position that touches many groups - PMs are expected to be able to flourish in a political environment, and be diplomatic enough to consider the impact of project decisions on other groups.

This position is responsible for:

Managing one or more projects across a business Segment
-

Building and maintaining relationships with the business as well as maintaining open channels of communications
-

Managing and prioritizing projects with the segment portfolio steering group
-

Building and validating business cases for projects
-

Effort estimation and project costing
-

Working with sourcing organizations to identify and allocate resources within and across projects based on project prioritization
-

Project risk analysis, assessment, planning, and management, interfacing with all levels of management within the segment and with IT and Operations groups
-

Earned value analysis as well as other formal PM methodologies for forecasting and reporting on project budgets
-

Project status tracking and reporting to PMO, IT and Executive Management
-

Direct project oversight reviews and assisting executive management with data for decision making
-

Project resource forecasting, leveling, and integration
-

Project communication strategies and delivery mechanisms
-

Development and assignment of milestones and tracking of on-time delivery and quality
-

Manage relationships with multiple stakeholders on projects and other duties as assigned

Management of the full Software Development Lifecycle from initiation through requirements, analysis, design, development, testing and deployment

Identification, tracking and resolution of issues related to various projects throughout their life cycle

Required Skills:

-

10+ years of Project Management experience with technical knowledge garnered from working in IT involved in application development, package implementation and operations
-

Experience in the Insurance Industry
-

Experience in managing medium to large teams of matrixed resources from all areas of the business
-

Experience as a functional manager doing reviews and career coaching
-

Must have demonstrated experience in 3-4 large scale projects from initiation through planning, execution, control and closeout with delegation, budgetary and scope responsibility/authority

PMP Certification 
-

Knowledge of formal software development methodologies a plus

Knowledge of MS Office Suite include MS Project and Visio

Strong facilitation skills

Strong project planning skills and experience

Excellent verbal and written communication skills

PC Insurance Industry experience and a working knowledge of the major insurance processes a major plus
