Project Manager, possible current or ex-management consultant, Investment banking change, business strategy, regulatory changes, business simplification, strategy formalisation and implementation, regulator relations, business process re-engineering and operating model re-design.

My tier 1 investment banking client is looking to add a senior Project Manager to their to their business change team. The team works on global change impacts which are generally Front Office driven and the book of work covers all the hot topics in the investment banking world currently.

Typical ones being; new traded products (very unusual in the market place until very recently); regulatory changes; business simplification; merging of product sets; merging of downstream business processes; reducing of market and operational risk; strategy formalisation and implementation; regulator relations; business process re-engineering and operating model re-design.

This group requires a fairly unique skill set too - A Project Manager who has been senior enough to manage programme/s but also who has been detailed enough and hands-on enough to be experienced in the detailed elements of projects. These projects are business driven business' change.

You also need the following (which are essential);

- A broad product understanding of the typical products traded by investment banks
- Front Office project experience
- Ideally ex-consultancy background

This role is relatively unique and although most other banks have been setting up similar functions to this, this client has an established group of 30+ people. Role length is almost assured as the book of work is only growing. The typical projects on offer here are likely to be part of the book of work at other investment banking clients, but what might be different here is that all these programmes of work seem to be centralised through this one group, rather than spread through the organisation, therefore meaning you will work on the most industry relevant projects on offer in the market currently. Candidates who have worked on business driven business' change programmes which are likely to be too unique to their investment bank eg divesting projects, will be of less interest. You should have a deep understanding of the investment banking world and the challenges facing them in the future. Candidates who are current or ex-management consultants, would work well here. Candidates currently sat in a Strategy Function or COO Function would also be of interest. Whilst this is a contract role, the major element of the contract team were in permanent roles prior to joining - so permanent candidates should feel comfortable with joining this function.
