Parliamentary Information and Communications Technology Department

The Parliamentary Information and Communications Technology Department (PICT) forms part of the Parliamentary Administration. PICT works closely with both the House of Commons and House of Lords to deliver new technologies and technology enabled change both through 3rd party contracts/procurements and in-house bespoke development. We are responsible for all operational ICT support for Parliament including a complex business applications portfolio and a secure and efficient network / desktop environment for MPs, Lords and Parliamentary staff.

THE ROLE

As an IT Project Manager you will play an important role within PICT's delivery capability, managing the delivery of a number of projects. To do this successfully, you will work closely with sponsors and stakeholders, using your excellent stakeholder and team relationships to understand key business drivers and challenges. You will use PICT and IT industry standard processes and methods to enable effective delivery of projects and will also be involved in helping us to develop more successful and efficient delivery mechanisms.

YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCES

Candidates should therefore address the relevant competencies in their application and interview. Please see the Project Manager job description for the PICT Competencies. We are currently looking for someone who has:

- Proven ability to form effective working relationships with key customers, stakeholders and colleagues within a complex management structure
- Excellent oral communication and interpersonal skills with proven ability to explain technical issues to non-technical people
- Demonstrates good planning and organisational skills to prioritise to meet deadlines and cope with fluctuations in workload
- A systematic and analytical approach to problem solving with the ability to communicate technical information to both technical and non-technical audiences
- Knowledge of project management tools and techniques, with a track record of successful IT project delivery. Proven ability to manage multiple concurrent IT projects.
